Those in the know stop by for a fix of pitas and a morning coffee
from hipsters in skinny jeans to office workers in heels, health-conscious crowds descend upon the bright buffet
Sababa’s City Bowl branch opened in 2011 and is run by Nirit Saban. It is a deli with an eat-in option – either at the long communal table out front, counter seating inside or in the tree house out back.
The shop is situated near the top of Bree Street and a decidedly health-conscious crowd descends upon the bright buffet – from hipsters in skinny jeans to office workers in heels taking their Sababa lunchbox to go. Besides the busy lunchtime trade, Sababa on Bree is also open on the first Thursday evening of every month for ‘falafel night’, which has become something of an institution.
Those in the know stop by, not only for a fix of pitas stuffed with hot, made-from-scratch falafel balls and veggie pickles, but for morning coffee from Barista, Donald Harawa and Nirit’s freshly-baked chocolate rugelach (like petite croissants but rolled from buttery yeast dough).
